It will be a working birthday for Philippine President Benigno Aquino III. Mr. Aquino will mark his 51st birthday on Tuesday like any regular day in his seven months in office: Attending functions, meetings and briefings, and sifting through documents in between.

"The President had said that he has a lot of things scheduled that day," Secretary Edwin Lacierda, presidential spokesperson, told the government-run radio station dzRB.

He has such a busy schedule that the bachelor President cannot say for sure when he can quietly celebrate the special day with his four sisters and their extended families, according to Lacierda.

"There will be some salu-salo (get-together) but the President has mentioned that there will be a lot of work on his birthday," he said.

Malaca�ang has yet to release the President's itinerary on Tuesday, but if his activities on regular days are any indication, then it would be a flurry of functions, meetings and briefings.

It is not clear if Mr. Aquino finds time to unwind despite his grueling schedule in Malacanang (the presidential palace). Does he still indulge in target shooting? Is he now into biking? Does he have time to race his Porsche?

"When we were in Binan, Laguna, he said he doesn't know whether he could rest this weekend or the next," Lacierda said.
