Filipino hacker group attacks anew, defaces government website

Amid the warning from the Palace, the so-called Filipino hacker group “Philker” on Thursday attacked another government website.

The Food and Drug Administration’s website www.bfad.gov.ph was defaced by a hacker by putting popup window with the message “Hacked by Blackrain.”

The popup message was remained as of 5 a.m. and as of 3 p.m. the website appeared to be disabled.

The food and drug agency was the third government victimatized by the hackers this week, following the attacks on Philippine Nuclear Research Institute and Bureau of Customs websites.

The “Philker,” however, did not show any clear connection to Customs bureau website incident.

Moreover, the Palace had said that it is planning a security review on government websites, following the hacking incidents.

Meanwhile, the hacker group said on its website that “We are not trying to damage you. We only want to help protect our country’s cyberspace by doing what seems to be the most efficient way to get everyone’s attention. May this deface serve as a reminder that you always have to look out for intruders. No matter how intelligent and competent your computer personnel are, there will be unethical hackers that are constantly working on breaking in your security,” the hackers said in their message in the redirect site http://exploitedbyphilker.walkerepvpers.us.to/

The group also said that “a group composed of Filipino hackers that possess skills in the areas of cyber security, visual graphics, and human manipulation that work on the progression of Philippine cyber culture.”
