Pilar Pilapil determined to pursue her case

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has admitted that it is helpless in effecting the arrest of the prime suspect in the abduction and attempted murder of veteran actress Pilar Pilapil without a warrant of arrest from the court.

“Our operatives are doing their job, the reglamentary period is over, we need a warrant of arrest,” the CIDG director, Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao, Jr. said Wednesday after a surprise visit by Pilapil at his office to inquire about the progress of her case.

Pagdilao expressed belief that that the prime suspect, Rosel Jacosalem Pe

ñas, who is also Pilapil’s sister-in-law, is still in the country and can be arrested soon along with her two unidentified male cohorts as soon as the Antipolo City precutor’s office turns out a warrant for the arrest of said suspects.

Tracks had been followed that may lead us to her eventually,” Pagdilao said.

According to Pagdilao, the veteran actress is determined to pursue the case against the suspects and is scheduled to give her testimony to the court on June 7.

Kidnapping and frustrated murder charges had already been filed against Peñas and two John Does before the Antipolo City prosecutor’s office and the next step is to wait for the resolution of the case in the fiscal’s office for the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Peñas’s last known addresses were at ALQ Condo-Dormitory, P. Campa St., Sampaloc, Manila, and C-3 201, M. L. Quezon St., Taguig City.

Pilapil and Rosel were abducted April 14 by two unidentified men. Pilapil, who was badly wounded, was dumped in Piedra Blanca, Brgy. San Luis, Antipolo City, while Rosel, who was driving the vehicle, was taken by their abductors and remains missing.

The Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Pilapil declared Rosel a suspect after investigators found that all the information she relayed to the veteran actress turned out to be all false.

Investigators had found out that Peñas is not connected to a multinational company as what she averred to Pilapil, CIDG investigators have found out also based on the record check at the Department of Foreign Affairs that the suspect did not leave the country contrary to her claim to Pilapil that she was in Australia prior to the incident.

Pilapil has earlier told investigators that Peñas also claimed as an employee of Uniliver Philippines but the firm denied it nor it owned the Kia vehicle.

A check with the Social Security System (SSS) likewise showed that Unilever has no employee by the name of Rosel Jacosalem or Rosel Penas.

The CIDG is also hot on the trail of the beige KIA Carens that Peñas was driving when she fetched Pilapil in Robinsons Galleria on April 14, 2011, the day they were abducted

Records show that the KIA Carens is registered to a certain Romeo Jose dela Cuesta of Villamor II, Sabater, Caloocan City.

Pagdilao also revealed that Peñas was sighted in her boarding house a day after the incident driving the KIA Carens.
