President Benigno Aquino III is still studying the recommendations of Vice President Jejomar Binay on the burial of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos, which according to reports, proposed full military honors, but not in the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Binay reportedly recommended for the former President to be buried in his hometown in Ilocos Norte.
“At this point, we are still studying the recommendation. We don’t want to preempt the president in case…inaaral pa yung mga rekomendasyon,” Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said.
“Ang sabi ni Vice President Binay, cino-consider yung mga opinion ng stakeholders. Nagconduct pa sila ng survey. Again, at this point, ang gusto natin diyan is to get the pulse of the people and also considering events in history,” Valte said over government-run dzRB radio.
An overwhelming number of lawmakers have earlier filed a resolution urging Aquino to allow the burial of Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.
