104 outdoor and nature enthusiasts from the entire Samar island and 500 other mountaineers from other parts of the country will try to set a new world record on Independence Day.
A group who call themselves Borongan Awareness on Nature and Outdoor Group Incorporated (BANOG) is hosting the “freedom climb” to Mt. Kapudlusan, a 120-foot climb.
Mountain trekkers from Northern Samar and Samar provinces will be arriving today, as the “Freedom Climb” contingent leaves early morning on June 11, 2011.
According to BANOG president Floyd Ramos, theirs is just one group of nature lovers who will try to set a new world record of the biggest number of people who will summit mountains on the same day.
And climb they will on Independence Day simultaneously with other groups all throughout the country.
